About Me
The BETAHEAVEN website started as a hobby site specialising in repair of Beta VCRs. Strangely enough my radio communications career also involved me testing prototype equipment often referred to as “Beta samples” to radio communications standards. This site now covers both my work and the hobby.ANALYSE SOLVE & TEST PTY LTD. A.C.N. 62 127962672
I have a radio test laboratory in a screened room to support my consultancy activities with clients because the ACMA shut down the NATA laboratory I once managed to paid commercial activities and has now closed it.I still chair the Standards Australia Radio communications committees for which I represent WIA on RC006 (land mobile & general) and ARCIA on RC004 (marine). I started this when I was managing the ACMA laboratory and have now been involved with standards development for 32 years.
Over the last 18 years I have provided consultancy services to many government and industry organisations to identify and solve problems in their networks, develop products and repair equipment. Those clients include amongst others ACMA, Telstra, Vision stream, RFI, Rail Test Industries, Anglo American Australia, Hace Industries, Trackman, ARCIA, Trio Schneider, Hytera, Icom, GME, Jetstar, Victoria police, DELWP (Vic) Country Fire Services (S.A.), JRD, LeMans GoKarts and Zetify.
Beta VCR Repair and Supply
The beta repair side of it came mainly out of my desire to keep my own machines going, in order to watch my own tape collection. This soon extended to friends and family. It became more difficult over time to get machines repaired and indeed the parts also became difficult to get. I started to collect and repair beta machines and got carried away!Hence the creation of this website originally to get rid of my collection of machines but it evolved into helping others keep theirs going around the world. To do this I collaborate with the creators of PALsite and try to add to their virtual museum of video machines in a number of formats.
These days the main clients I have are transfer companies who copy video and sound information from many recording formats to digital media. I have also supplied machines to Australian National Archives. My customers also include football and motor sport enthusiasts interested in saving games and race memories for posterity, plus music and shows such as count down.
